The workshop building for 140 freight wagons, opened in 1873, consisted of a 65-metre-wide and 160-metre-long nine-bay hall, the outer walls of which were made of a combination of stone and brickwork, and the wooden roofs were supported by 136 cast-iron columns. In 1879 the workshops opened their own sawmill, in 1888 a paint shop and saddlery were set up here, and passenger wagons began to be repaired here as well. For years the workshops also served as a shelter for government parlour cars, then for nostalgia trains, and until May 2013 passenger and mail coaches were repaired here.In 2004 the buildings were listed, but we live in an absurdist state where protection can be withdrawn at the request of a developer, so this "anniversary" album is just a reminder of what we could have had, for example, a world-class railway museum, or a quietly impressive concert hall.
Už jen svými rozměry to byl unikát a Praha jejich demolicí roku 2015 přišla o industriální památku, která nejen v hlavním městě, ale ani v celém Česku nemá obdoby. Dílenskou budovu pro 140 nákladních vagónů, zprovozněnou roku 1873, tvořila 65 metrů široká a 160 metrů dlouhá devítilodní hala, jejíž obvodové stěny byly provedeny v kombinaci kamenného a cihlového zdiva a dřevěné krovy neslo 136 litinových sloupů. Roku 1879 dílny zprovoznily vlastní pilu, 1888 zde byla zřízena lakovna a sedlárna a začaly se zde opravovat také vagony osobní. Dílny léta sloužily i jako úkryt vládních salonních vozů, poté i vozů pro nostalgické vlaky a až do května 2013 se zde prováděly opravy osobních a poštovních vozů. 2004 byly budovy zapsané jako kulturní památka, ale žijeme v absurdistánu, kde lze ochranu zrušit na žádost developera, a tak toto "jubilejní" album je jen vzpomínkou na to, jaké jsme mohli mít např. světové železniční muzeum, nebo klidně impozantní koncertní síň.
