The sugar factory was founded in 1871.
It was nationalized in 1945.
It was supposed to be replaced by a new plant in the 1980s, but construction was interrupted.
Today, a large new sugar factory complex stands in its place, but it is not in operation.
The general condition of the site is neglected, but the land is ready for further use.
