On my trip to Poland I couldn't miss a visit to Sanatorium PalΓ‘c. π° This once majestic palace is gradually turning into a breathtaking ruin, attracting curious people and explorers of abandoned places from all over Europe. Although it's not so easy to get inside nowadays, the building's surroundings are guarded by dummy cameras and there's one inside that's probably real - it looked different to the ones outside. πΈ So caution is necessary, but for lovers of mysterious places it's still worth it! Every crack in the walls hides a story and this palace is definitely worth a visit....

Every crack in the walls hides a story and this palace is definitely worth a visit. π
The mysterious history of an abandoned sanatorium
The palace was built on the site of the former Baroque residence of the van Gellhorn family. During its existence, it served as a hospital, a sanatorium and later as the headquarters of the infamous Lebensborn association. The owner of the town donated funds to the Johannites, thanks to whom the hospital was built. During the First World War it served as a reception centre for wounded pilots, after the war the building was converted into a home for the elderly.
During World War II, it was said to have been the site of the Lebensborn program, which aimed to "purify German blood." In 2010, the remains of servicemen and women were found, confirming the legend. π After the war, Soviet troops were stationed here and from the 1950s onwards there were agricultural schools. In 1995, the building was sold to an investor who wanted to turn it into a hotel, but the plans fell through and the building remained abandoned. Locals believe that after dark, strange noises emanate from the building and mysterious figures appear.

On my latest urbex trip to Poland, I couldn't miss the chance to explore the Sanatorium Palace. This once grand palace is slowly crumbling into a captivating ruin, drawing urban explorers from across Europe. Unfortunately, access has become more difficult. There are decoy cameras around the building, and inside, there's one that seems to be real - it looked different from the ones outside. πΈ Caution is advised, but for those who love abandoned places, it's still worth the effort! Every wall tells its own story, and this palace is definitely worth visiting. π
The mysterious history of the abandoned sanatorium
The palace was built on the site of a former Baroque mansion owned by the van Gellhorn family. Over the years, it served as a hospital, sanatorium, and later, as the headquarters of the infamous Lebensborn society. The city owner donated funds to the Johannites (Order of Malta) for the construction of the hospital, which was used as a reception centre for wounded pilots during WWI. After the war, the building was converted into a senior home.
During WWII, it was allegedly part of the Lebensborn program, aimed at "purifying German blood." In 2010, remains of soldiers and women were found, confirming this legend. After the war, Soviet troops occupied the building, and in the 1950s, it housed agricultural schools. In 1995, the building was sold to a private investor with plans to turn it into a hotel, but the project failed, leaving the palace abandoned. Locals claim to hear eerie sounds after dark and report ghostly figures wandering the halls. π
